At
26 years of age, Des Rusk already has six years of fashion
industry experience under his belt, helping design for
one of New Zealand’s best menswear labels, then
starting his own eponymous label in October 2004.
After working for the now infamous
Little Brother label as head designer and brand manager,
Rusk set up his self-titled label with the intention
of bringing lo-fi branded, quality menswear into a market
saturated with logo-heavy apparel.
Rusk uses his tailoring background
as a base to each garment. Silhouettes are tailored,
but there is a strong element of what’s happening
on the street that carries through each collection.
Now in its sixth season with
the introduction of spring/summer 2008, Des Rusk has
continued to gain new accounts across New Zealand and
Australia.
Des showed for the first time
at NZFW 2006 with a collection entitled ‘No More
Nonsense’ and was chosen as one of three young
designers to be showcased at The Marr Factory Presents
show on September 4th 2006.
Des Rusk is fast gaining momentum
in its hometown of Auckland, where the label has become
a top seller at leading boutiques. |
